The Legacy, by first time author Katherine Webb, came to leading publisher Orion’s notice by garnering huge support from other aspiring writers on YouWriteOn and receiving a critique from an Orion editor after being rated into the YouWriteOn.com Top Ten by members. Each month the highest rated story extracts on YouWriteOn.com receive critiques from editors for Orion and the world's largest publisher Random House, who publish authors such as John Grisham.

The Legacy’s success follows in the footsteps of others writers who have developed on YouWriteOn.com, established in 2006. Previous YouWriteOn.com members have achieved book deals with the world's largest publishers, including Penguin, Harper Collins, Hodder and Random House after developing their novels on the site.

YouWriteOn’s 2007 winner Caligula by Douglas Jackson achieved a six figure book deal with Random House who now participate on the site reviewing the highest rated novels each month, and The Third Pig Detective Agency by Bob Burke won an award in the Bisto Book Awards, whose previous winners have included Artemis Fowl author Eoin Colfer.
