Most of my book sales come through Amazon. It's a POD book. I've been really put off by the news. Thanks YWO, for taking this stance on our behalf.

There are plenty of other online bookstores who don't seem to mind selling our stories (some of which are important works despite their manner of publication). A boycott is what Amazon deserves.
Truth is stranger than fiction.

Thanks to everyone and those at BookShed for your support.

Below is a link to news of YouWriteOn's boycott in the publishing media and the havoc the word 'boycott' leads to. Our favourite headline is 'Boycott! Amazon insurgency spreads to UK' !

I just did a search on this site, and guess what the only supplier was in their list - blooming Amazon Looks like ordering from a local bookshop is the only real alternative unless you want something really mainstream

The Book Depository is often competitive, I've found.

I go to The Book Despository before Amazon (although I discovered them through Aazon) - they've always been brilliant, will always go there now....

I have one book on Amazon at present and a number of short stories in their curretly closed "Shorts" programme, but my latest book is not going through AuthorHouse which is not subject to Amazon's boycott of POD publishers other than their own inhouse company. That said, my new publisher has found a way to address this, by opening their own direct sales arm which appears on the Amazon site, right alongside their own "Out of Stock" message and offers the book at the best price and makes clear that it is available, just not from Amazon directly. Economic muscle is what Amazon has, so they are using their power to squeeze other publishers, fair it is not, but then commerce isn't about fair in this sense. Boycotts hardly ever have the desired effect unless it really hurts the target and Amazon is, at present, too big to even notice a few of us boycotting them, my publisher's strategy however, makes use of their system to circumvent their own boycott. I am publishing through Hallmark Press and I suggest that we encourage other publisher's to adopt the same strategy.

I recently came across a good website called lovereading.com and there is a lovereading4kids.com sister site as well.

I have had e-mail contact with the staff and they are dead friendly. They are interested in selling new authors work as well, including those who are self-published.
