Title : The Bloodcurdling Bug-Eyed Jawbreaker

Author : Maureen Lynas

Genre : Children's Fiction, Comedy, Fantasy

Review Esctract from Review By: Hansons58

"Made me smile

One of the most important elements of Children’s literature is pace and I think you’ve done very well in this regard. Even the longer scenes move along quickly and it’s easy to get through 10-20 pages of Gurner’s adventures without really realising.

The action is pretty good too. I don’t think you’ll get anyone accuse you of writing a boring piece here.

I think you might be aiming slightly high with your target audience age. I’d personally say that this sits better in the 8-10 year old range, but I can definitely see kids enjoying this. "

Synopsis
Who knew that pulling a face could lead to so many problems? Gurner Gobbit didn’t, or he wouldn’t have pulled the Jawbreaker. He’s petrified his friend, his face has stuck, and he’s about to spend the rest of his life imprisoned in the mines of Clogshire. Or is he?

I totally agree - this is a great children's story. It reminded me of reading 'George's Marvellous Medicine' and 'The Twits' when I was young because Maureen really understands the dark humour and love of the grotesque that kids share. Heartily recommended!

Thank you so much for recommending The Jawbreaker. I am beginning to think it's like Marmite, people either love it or pull a disgusted face. You have made my day.
