Marty,

This is a gripping tale. You`re clearly a master of pace and clever plot twists. I admired the way you built up the tension with a more leisurely pace at the beginning, then accelerated the plot with night-time escapades and flashbacks.

Certain scenes were so vivid they made me regret reading this extract at night, especially the nail-biting scene with Pamela alone in the flat (nooo don`t open the door!) and the discovery of the corpse. You also used some fantastic images - the masked children were eerie and helped create a deeply unsettling atmosphere, and there was a nice contrast between the posh flat and the grimy streets of Glasgow. Interesting plot, too, what with these hints at Magda`s mysterious past and Tom`s secret ..."

Synopsis
Tom and Pamela Gillman, top London lawyers, travel to Glasgow for a conference. For Tom this means a return to his home city after twenty years. And a reunion with shadows from his past, involving his own family and an unsolved murder he investigated as a young policeman.
