"
Overlord I loved this...What happens next?!
I really didn't expect to like it as it's not a genre I usually read, but it had me hooked.
I did wonder whether Romans had 'sons-in-law.' Might he have been the 'husband of my daughter.' It seemed a modern term but I'm not saying it's wrong.
Your use of dialogue is excellent and I could visualise the characters, who were delightfully diverse and sympathetically drawn. I wouldn't know where to criticise it, because I zoomed through it very uncritically...which implies that as far as I was concerned there wasn't much wrong with it.
Good luck with this."

6,800 words. Third century AD and the might of the Roman Empire begins to crumble through invasion. In the east of the empire, the forces of Persia press the frontier, and the king of the Syrian city, Palmyra, calls upon Emperor Valerian for aid.
