Well done, Sue. I think there are some brilliant short story writers on this site.

I've just finished a YA novel called Divergent, it was an enjoyable, pacy read but I didn't feel a flicker of emotion for any of the characters. Where as some of the short story writers on this site can have me blubbing into my coffee or laughing out loud after just a couple of thousand words!

Just goes to show that you can get a novel published with hollow characters as long as your story is strong enough.

Agreed, Karen. And they are certainly not all writing 'Bella fodder'.

I've just read the free sample of that and had thought to buy but after what you've said...
