The finished book size will be 6x9? Isn't that, like, huge?
Most paperbacks are a lot smaller.

Yes, most standard paperbacks are roughly 4 x 7 inches and most standard hardbacks are roughly 6 x 9 inches. So will the finished result be a softback instead of paperback?

Paperback! 6 x 9 also enables us to keep retail price for books down as lower printing costs. For example, we retailed Bufflehead Sisters, 300 pages, at £6.49. And for the epics that we get, this aims at stopping them being retailed at unmarketable prices.

So it's a paperback but the size of a hardback, I thought that was called a softback. You see that's why I've decided not to take up the offer, it all seems so hit and miss and rather confusing. But good luck to all who are going ahead.

I have just sent off my PDFs for my two novels. I think it's going to be a lot of fun - and after all, it's what was planned for the site right from the start; that if a reader liked your extract enough, he would be able to buy a copy of the book. Go Ted!

It's the standard size for a Trade Paperback, the smaller size is a mass market paperback. I think it is explained in the info pack sent to those taking up the offer.

"YouWriteOn.com will publish for free as a paperback and that your paperback will ready for readers to order by Christmas."
"We will publish as a 6”width x 9” height book. This is a generally accepted size which will cover both the U.S. and UK market."
There is no mention of a Trade Paperback in the info pack.

Maybe I'm doing it wrong, but when I follow the guidelines, my book a decent size 5 x7 (like normal paper backs).
I'm just so confused.
This seems like such a brilliant offer, but is it too good to be true?
Also, there is no talk in the guideliens about the ISBN number. I only understand from here that it's £40 and payable to YWO.

Hi, there is no cost for the publishing setup if you wish your book to be sold through the YouWriteOn website. If you would additionally like an ISBN and for your book to be set up and made available through the ordering services of booksellers such as Amazon, WH Smith and Waterstones, it's £39.99. Details of how to apply are on the main YouWriteOn page about publishing Click here and scroll down the page As per submission instructions, if you are not able to set up your document to 6 x 9 then email as a Word or other document and we will do this for you.
