After studying Modern Languages I channelled my creative energies into building word pictures and putting flesh on the bones of history for the entertainment of tourists, first in Austria and then in London. I met many people with fascinating life stories, some with amazing powers of self-deception, and a few who shouldn’t be allowed to cross a street unsupervised, let alone to travel halfway round the world.

In 2001 I bought a guesthouse and a computer and headed for the hills. Since then I have spent every available minute on my writing projects.
